Following the UC3 tender process, Relevent Football Partners was awarded the commercial rights to the UEFA men’s club competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) on a global basis for the 2027 to 2033 cycle. As such, Relevent Football Partners is now seeking to build a truly world class business focused on the monetisation of these commercial rights.

Role Overview

The Director of Marketing of Relevent Football Partners (RFP) is a key position reporting to the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer (CCMO), with accountability for managing RFP’s brand strategy and presence, specifically within the global sports and entertainment ecosystem. The position will work closely with the sales teams to develop marketing strategies that drive commercial partnership opportunities. As RFP is a new entity, this is an opportunity to build a marketing function from scratch at a high-profile sports business.

The role demands a dynamic, commercially minded leader, with expertise in international marketing and brand storytelling. They will have a proven track record in delivering high-profile campaigns, navigating complex stakeholder environments and driving commercial growth through innovative marketing strategies.  The Director of Marketing will be based in RFP’s London office. Travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Brand and Marketing Strategy

  • With the CCMO, create, develop and implement a comprehensive B2B-focused Marketing strategy aligned with RFP’s commercial objectives.
  • Establish, grow and evolve RFP’s brand, ensuring clarity in its positioning within the global sports and entertainment ecosystem. Define brand identity and positioning strategy, establish brand guidelines and voice.
  • Create sales-enabling marketing materials and content strategies, including the development and execution of a comprehensive event strategy that leverages existing industry events and contemplates the creation of new, owned platforms. Ensure all activations are in line with the company’s values,  drive commercial success and showcase thought leadership.
  • Work hand in hand with commercial teams pre and post deals to ensure alignment and strategic value add from a B2B marketing perspective.
  • Prioritise excellent client/stakeholder management.
  • Establish robust systems to enable a seamless, best in class global client service.
  • Talent management: work with agents and publicists to unlock access to key athletes, influencers as part of agreed marketing/PR to support sales efforts.
  • Manage and direct creative, event and tech agencies as needed.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and lead a high-performing B2B-focused Marketing team.
  • Work closely with UC3, commercial partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and develop advocacy within the football business community.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, urgency, and strategic problem-solving within the marketing function.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience in B2B strategic marketing, ideally within international sports, media, or entertainment.
  • Proven track record of success in high-profile, commercially driven organisations.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams in fast-moving environments.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience launching brands, businesses, or campaigns in multiple global markets, with a deep understanding of regional media dynamics.
  • Experience planning and executing premium client events and reporting ROI.
  • Creative agency and talent management experience.
  • Experience building and nurturing teams, including pan-regional team members and partners.
  • Proven ability to operate at pace, delivering high-quality marketing in time-sensitive, high-pressure situations.
  • Multilingual capabilities preferred, reflecting the global nature of the role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
