Position Summary
Pyrotek is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Business Development who will be responsible for evolving and growing Pyrotek’s client base. This high-impact executive role will serve as one of Pyrotek’s key representatives within both the Nashville music scene and the broader live entertainment community.
The Director of Business Development will cultivate and strengthen relationships with tour managers, artist managers, agents, and other key live entertainment stakeholders while working closely with existing Pyrotek clients. This leader will spearhead the introduction and expansion of Pyrotek’s capabilities, develop and implement innovative special effects strategies, and champion the adoption of Pyrotek’s cutting-edge solutions.
The ideal candidate is a visionary and results-driven leader with a deep and broad understanding of the live entertainment industry and a strong track record of cultivating meaningful, long-term relationships with top-tier artists and their teams. The candidate should also be a collaborative team leader who emphasizes motivating and empowering their team and fostering an environment that prioritizes innovation, collaboration, and delivering exceptional results. With exceptional communication and negotiation skills, this person can skillfully navigate complex situations, balancing the needs of artists with strategic business objectives. Lastly, the ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, leveraging industry insights and data to stay ahead of trends and reimagine artist collaborations in new and impactful ways.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify, solicit, secure, and nurture new, long-term business relationships with top-tier artists, talent managers, and other key live entertainment players to support company growth and expand Pyrotek’s pipeline and portfolio.
- Lead presentations to new client prospects and negotiate packages for potential live special effects services.
- Develop a detailed understanding of client needs and customize innovative proposals that demonstrate insight and knowledge of those needs.
- Actively maintain relationships with any current clients, industry contacts and future client prospects and manage client expectations honestly and with integrity.
- Proactively research, analyze and collect relevant information to regularly identify new projects and client development opportunities.
- Act as a liaison between Pyrotek and industry partners, as it relates to Pyrotek products and services.
- Serve as a spokesperson for Pyrotek at industry conferences, festivals, and networking events, championing the company’s vision, fostering relationships, and driving brand recognition in key markets.
- Lead and encourage the business development team; provide mentorship to ensure objectives are met and nurture personal development goals
- Proactively identify and manage critical issues; demonstrate resilience and adapt to evolving plans and strategies; where conflicting issues arise, collaborate with the team to find solutions
- Collaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives and ensure seamless execution of projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 10+ years of Business Development in the live events/entertainment industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the live music industry, with a solid understanding of the dynamics of touring, special effects, pyrotechnics, and more.
- Proven expertise in business development, deal negotiation, and managing high-profile relationships.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with a talent for making data-driven decisions and effectively presenting ideas.
- Proven track record of success in collaborative team environments, with a drive to achieve and exceed goals.
- Leverages emotional intelligence to navigate complex internal and external politics, fostering collaboration and achieving strategic outcomes.
- Strong leadership skills with people management experience, inspiring and guiding cross-functional teams towards shared goals in a fast-paced, high-achieving environment.
- A strong reputation in the Nashville and broader live music scene with a robust network of influential industry players is strongly preferred.
