Following the UC3 tender process, Relevent Football Partners (RFP) was awarded the commercial rights to the UEFA men’s club competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) on a global basis for the 2027 to 2033 cycle. As such, RFP is now seeking to build a truly world class business focused on the monetisation of these commercial rights.

Role Overview

The Head of Tax RFP will hold a critical position on the organisation’s Leadership Team, supporting the business to build the global tax function creating an effective culture of governance through scalable and efficient solutions that suit the needs of a fast growing business.

The Head of Tax will build out the RFP Tax function to embed and operationalize an efficient tax structure meeting global compliance requirements while optimizing the VAT working capital cycle. The role requires significant experience in international tax planning involving an ultimate US parent entity and operational tax experience in the UK hand other key RFP locations (Switzerland, Qatar, Signapore, US). In addition experience in implementing transfer pricing policies and associated intercompany agreements will be beneficial to the requirements of the role.

The Head of Tax reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will business partner closely with the leadership team on all strategic matters. The CFO will be based in RFP’s London office.

Structure / Set up

  • Group tax subject matter expert able to critically evaluate and clearly articulate key risks / judgments
  • Responsible for international tax planning to sustainably optimize the long term Group tax position
  • Understand the competitor, market and regulatory environment, the changes happening within them and the impact these would have on Group tax strategy

Transfer Pricing

  • Responsibility for global Transfer Pricing setup (Processes, Documentation, Implementation)

Compliance

  • Oversee Corporate and Withholding Tax compliance in c5 key locations ensuring
  • Understand the competitor, market and regulatory environment, the changes happening within them and the impact these would have on internal strategies, plans and targets.
  • Equally strong focus on risk management and minimizing tax leakage

VAT

  • Manage the VAT returns for c5 entities in the Group ensuring working capital cycle optimized to minimize trapped liquidity

External Advisors

  • Appoint and closely manage the scope and outputs of key tax advisors as part of a strong focus on Group cost control
  • Develop & maintain strong relations with tax advisors, regulatory bodies and other external partners

Business Partnering

  • Provide commercial advice where applicable on key tax judgements relating to RFP broadcast and sponsorship agreements
  • Continuously monitor and improve key processes / systems to ensure efficient, accurate and scalable
  • Partner with HR teams to provide guidance on key employment tax matters

Required Experience & Skills

  • Required Experience & Skills Fully qualified Accountant – ACA / ICAS / CIMA / ACCA.
  • Minimum of 8 years international tax experience
  • Demonstrable experience of building and leading a high performing tax function within a fast-paced international organisation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of communicating up and down the organisation and can simplify financial concepts and terminology.
