Position Overview

The Principal will be responsible for providing TEC strategic direction, sustainable growth and overall financial health.  In collaboration with the TERVA executive leadership team, the TEC Principal will implement business plans that enable TEC growth and support TEC employee retention and career growth. The Principal will have overall responsibility for business development, staffing, project management, technical excellence, quality assurance, mentoring, and operational activities within TEC. The Principal will report to the Chief Executive Officer/President.

Positon Description

  • TERVA Corporate Vision and Values – This person is responsible for understanding and overseeing the TEC’s deliverables while aligning with TERVA’s overall Corproate Vision and Values.   • ?Growth and branding of TEC – This person is responsible for growing TEC through business development efforts with both new and existing clients keeping sight of the ultimate objective of being recognized as a trusted partner providing quality service. This will be accomplished by developing and executing a well-thought-out strategy and an associated action plan.  The Principal will work collaboratively with the executive leadership team and the Marketing Group to develop and execute the growth and branding plan.
  • Oversight of respective business practices (QA/QC)  – This individual is responsible for ensuring the team’s execution of work through the delivery of high-quality projects and services. This may require review of existing work protocols and implementing new.
  • ?Oversight of TEC targets (establish KPI) – He/she will work in conjunction with executive leadership to develop sustainable operational and financial targets.  This individual will be responsible for working with executive leadership to formulate comprehensive strategies to achieve these targets.
  • Prepare annual budget and manage the TEC’s financial performance – This individual will work closely with the executive leadership team on establishing a budget, actively managing performance relative to that budget, and identifying and proactively addressing opportunities and risks to the business.
  • Oversee project management – He/she will ensure the consistency in procedures based on best practice engineering and project management standards.  This individual will also focus on working with the Engineerings / Project Managers to significantly improve their productivity and project performance (PFs) through effective project management strategies.
  • Oversite of technical aspects of design – This individual will utilize his/her experience and knowledge to ensure sound engineering practices are put in place. He/She will ensure all project solutions are based on good engineering judgement based on client expectations / standards / past project experience. He/she will also be involved in the technical direction of projects by providing guidance on design principles and project approach
  • Employee Mentoring and Retention – This individual is expected to lead an inspired organization.  As such, he/she needs to be well in-tune to the pulse, morale, and engagement of the employees as well as attracting and retaining talent.  This individual will work closely with the executive leadership team and Human Resources to address areas of improvement and continued growth.
  • Collaboration and Coordination across Businesses– This individual will be an advocate for collaboration and coordination across TERVA Corporation and TERVA Design Solutions to provide successful outcomes across the TERVA companies.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • To be successful in this role, one must possess the following: 
  • Professional Registration as a licensed professional engineer is required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive related experience in commercial construction field is required with substantial leadership / people management experience.
  • Track record demonstrating ability to think strategically and execute operationally to properly position the group for strong growth and financial performance.
  • Ability to develop high quality project solutions and long-lasting client relationships based on trust and accountability.
  • Trustworthiness with the ability to handle confidential matters and sensitive information or situations with discretion.
  • Commitment and ability to learn and implement TERVA’s corporate vision and values.
  • Ability to develop a path for sustained growth through business development and client retention.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve matters timely and lead initiatives/projects to completion with high quality deliverables.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, build and manage relationships across the company.
