Ed Whipple is a Managing Director and member of the Financial Officers Practice at ZRG. In this role, Ed works closely with clients to align their talent needs with their business strategy. His focus is conducting key recruiting and succession planning assignments within the financial function, with current and previous experience recruiting for CFOs, Chief Accounting Officers, Corporate Controllers, FP&A Leaders, Corporate Development Management, Treasury and Division Finance Executives.

Ed applies proven techniques throughout the executive search process to drive expedient results at every stage, from initial strategy development to hands-on candidate selection, execution, and placement. He has an established reputation as a trusted advisor to his clients at the intersection of the financial function and industrial sector.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining ZRG, Ed served as a Consultant within the Global Industrial Practice of a top 4 retained executive search firm. His list of clients served includes global industrial, private equity-backed, and publicly traded blue-chip companies. Over his career, Ed has completed over 200 engagements and established a vast network of executives within the Diversified Manufacturing, Industrial Services, Distribution, Energy, Infrastructure, Professional Services, Consumer, Supply Chain, and Retail sectors.

Areas of Expertise

In addition, he specializes in partnering with his clients on multiple assignments concurrently, including the build-out of senior executive teams, finance leadership teams (Corporate Controllers, Heads of Corporate Finance and M&A/Strategy, Division Finance Executives, etc.), and operational appointments.


Ed is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he earned dual degrees in Finance and Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

Hobbies and Interests

Ed enjoys an array of outdoor activities, including soccer, golf, biking, skiing, and skydiving. His other pastimes include reading, playing board games, and traveling with his wife, with the goal of visiting one new destination each year.
