About Relevent Football Partners

Relevent Football Partners (RFP) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Relevent, purpose-built to commercialise the UEFA men’s club competitions (UMCCs) globally. An independent entity, RFP is tasked with providing UC3 — the joint venture between UEFA and the European Football Clubs (EFC) — strategic and sales support in the worldwide marketing and sale of media, sponsorship, and licensing rights for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Youth League, and the UEFA Futsal Champions League.

Following the UC3 tender process, Relevent Football Partners was awarded the commercial rights to the UEFA men’s club competitions on a global basis for the 2027 to 2033 cycle.

As such, Relevent Football Partners is now seeking to build a truly world class business focused on the monetisation of these commercial rights.

Role Overview

The Senior Commercial Strategy Manager, Media at Relevent Football Partners will be an impactful member of RFP’s Media Rights team. They will be based in Relevent’s New York office and play a key role in media rights sales and partnership management in the Americas, alongside contributing to the ongoing development of UMCC’s global media rights strategy. This role will report to the Head of Strategy, Media, who is based in London, UK.

They will ensure that RFP maximises revenue across the Americas by identifying and executing on opportunities through the full media rights cycle, supporting on both the sales process and post-sales partnership management. To do this, they will leverage their industry and market knowledge, partnership management skills, and ability to create high quality external facing materials.

The Senior Commercial Strategy Manager, Media will contribute to the development of the broader global media rights strategy by conducting detailed analysis and delivering clear, robust recommendations. They will draw on their understanding of market trends, with specific expertise in the Americas, to influence rights strategy.

The Senior Commercial Strategy Manager, Media will be comfortable influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including at RFP, UC3 and media partners. They will take a collaborative approach and drive forward cross functional teams to deliver outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

Media Rights Sales & Partnership Management

  • Support on maximising commercial opportunities across the full media rights cycle from sales through to partnership management and delivery
  • Key role in the sales process for territories, with a primary focus on the Americas, with responsibility for sales strategy development and creation of sales materials
  • Own the day-to-day relationship with certain media partners post-sales process to successfully deliver UMCC rights and maximise the value of our partnerships

Media Rights Strategy

  • Support the development and delivery of RFP’s commercial strategy for media rights monetisation of the UMCC
  • Produce insightful analysis and create materials to provide clear and robust recommendations in order to develop the UMCC commercial programme
  • Possess strategic thinking and a long-term view on the sports media landscape to ensure that RFP is set up for sustainable long-term growth

Relationships and Market Intelligence

  • Understanding of local and regional trends in the Americas in order to influence RFP’s media rights strategy and go to market
  • Stay ahead of trends in the wider global media landscape, including the rise of new platforms, shifts in broadcasting rights, and digital transformations

Team & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams across RFP and UC3 to deliver excellent results
  • Manage and influence a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Actively contribute to cultivating RFP’s positive, collaborative, non-hierarchical culture

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven operator with extensive experience in sports media
  • Experience in the Americas required, with additional experience in Asia an advantage
  • Experience and a proven track record in at least one of, i) sports media rights sales, ii) sports media partnership management, iii) sports media rights strategy
  • An analytical background, comfortable with data with an ability to synthesise analysis
  • Ability to produce high quality presentation materials with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent cross functional collaboration skills, capable of driving initiatives forward
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Languages, in particular Spanish, desirable
