Position:

The Associate Vice President of Facilities Operations effectively manages the upkeep and maintenance of Geisinger facilities, supports key growth strategies, invests in enhancing infrastructure capabilities, and drives key sustainability initiatives for the system. This position will be expected to develop a roadmap that minimizes Geisinger’s carbon footprint, improves energy efficiency, and reduces operating costs.

Additionally, this position will build a strategic plan to ensure availability and sustainability of the skilled trade workforce into the future. Operationally, this position will be expected to successfully manage routine capital and infrastructure projects, meet all regulatory and compliance standards, and maximize facility uptime.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the departments of Facilities Operations, including General Maintenance and Skilled Trades, Grounds, Engineering, Plant Operations, Fleet Management, Energy Management, and Expense/Routine Project Management
  • Develops and executes strategic roadmap to reduce Geisinger’s carbon footprint, in alignment with system priorities and with key stakeholders from peer departments.
  • Plays an active role in development of system standards for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment, as well as in the specification for equipment designed to improve Geisinger’s sustainability and energy efficiency.
  • Manages infrastructure capital pool with proactive and strategic orientation, and in alignment with system priorities.
  • Participates in design and scoping processes for major capital projects, advising on infrastructure needs and evaluating opportunities for sustainable engineering.
  • Ensures compliance with all Joint Commission, CMS, and state Department of Health regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures, fire safety codes, hazardous material regulations, and construction codes.
  • Adheres to state licensing restrictions, federal regulations on safety and facilities design, and other regulations and regulatory entities.
  • Collaborates with Facilities Project Delivery to ensure facility design aligns with performance, ongoing maintenance/cost of ownership, and sustainability priorities.
  • Oversees execution of systemwide routine projects (400-600/year).
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external architects, engineers, construction contractors and others to ensure Geisinger obtains best pricing and service relative to design, construction, and renovation of Geisinger facilities.
  • Provides strategic, operational planning, and leadership to all hospital facilities operations leaders.
  • Designs, establishes, and maintains a team organizational structure to effectively accomplish the functions of facilities and maintenance operations.
  • Develops team members within the organization for trade skill competencies and professional management development.
  • Provides a safe and efficient working environment, essential to the performance of our clinical and business facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required. Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years Related Work Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years Leadership Experience
