Spotlight on Women: Blaire Anderson

3 Min. Read

Happy December everyone! As 2024 comes to a close, I’ve had the chance to reflect on some of my favorite searches over the past year. This month, I am highlighting a rockstar placement, Blaire Anderson, Director of Swimming and Diving at Texas A&M.  Blaire was hired back in May and immediately tasked with combining the men’s and women’s swimming programs at Texas A&M. Blaire made the move to College Station from The University of Virginia, where she led the Cavaliers to four national championships as an assistant coach, and coached a significant number of Olympians. It will be exciting to watch how her leadership and expertise shapes the program and influences the next generation of top-tier swimmers! ‘GIG EM!

What do you love most about your current job?

This role presents an opportunity to develop this team in a national title contending program - I love a challenge! What I love most are the coaches and athletes I get to work with daily, they make me look forward to coming in each and every day.

What advice would you give to a young person looking to become a college swim coach?

If you love it, chase after it and take chances; learn and grow from every experience. If you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life!

Who has had the biggest impact/influence on your career?

My parents, they are the hardest working people I know, and the most humble. They instilled a strong work ethic from a very early age and I’m extremely grateful.

What is the best/most memorable sporting event you’ve attended?

In 2021 at women’s NCAA, Paige Madden was in the water racing for her 3rd individual national title to clinch the 1650 Free. It was also the race that sealed the deal for UVA to win our first ever NCAA Championship. That was a moment I’ll never forget.
