Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at ZRG.

Freddie Hodgson: I’m a Managing Director at ZRG, specializing in interim solutions with a focus on placing top-tier strategy and transformation professionals into key roles. My background is in executive search, and over the years, I’ve developed a strong network of ex-consultants from firms like McKinsey, BCG, and Bain, as well as other top strategy houses.

My job is essentially about problem-solving for clients—whether they need immediate leadership support, expertise for a high-stakes project, or a fresh perspective to drive transformation. I help businesses quickly find the right talent to make an impact.

Q: Tell us more about your clients and what they look to you for.

Freddie Hodgson: I work with PE firms, their portfolio companies, corporates, and scale-ups to help them solve complex challenges by providing two types of solutions:

  1. Interim Strategy & Transformation – Experienced leaders who step in to drive change, whether it’s a large-scale transformation, post-merger integration, or operational turnaround.

  2. Project Consultants – Former top-tier strategy consultants who embed within teams to tackle strategic challenges when clients need an alternative to traditional consulting firms.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?

Freddie Hodgson: I love the pace and variety of interim work. Every search is different, and I get to work with businesses tackling some of the most interesting challenges—from scaling operations to navigating industry disruptions. There’s also something really rewarding about matching a company with the right person at just the right time—it’s a win-win for both sides.

Q: What makes your solution different from traditional consulting?

Freddie Hodgson: A lot of clients think of consultants as outsiders who come in, deliver a report, and leave. The people I place operate differently. They become part of the team, align with the business, and focus on execution as much as strategy—making sure change actually sticks.
