The Search Process, Step-By-Step

• Learning Your Organizational and Team Needs  
  Each search starts with in-depth conversations with key stakeholders who will work most closely with the selected candidate, to gain a clear understanding of the leadership qualities, experience, and interpersonal dynamics essential for success. These conversations enable us to speak authentically and with enthusiasm about the role and the organization. Rather than seeking to fill isolated positions, candidates are strategically placed with your whole team in mind.

• Search Launch and Outreach  
  After developing a compelling and inclusive search prospectus, we engage our extensive global network of thousands of nonprofit professionals, which includes highly qualified and diverse leaders who may not otherwise be accessible through traditional recruitment channels. Because of the role we play in supporting leadership across the nonprofit sector, all potential candidates take our call, including those who are not currently paying attention to job listings.
  
  Targeted research is conducted to identify additional candidates whose backgrounds and aspirations align with the opportunity. Every outreach effort is led by senior professionals with deep nonprofit expertise, ensuring candidates engage from the outset with experienced peers who can more deeply engage with candidates as well as organizational leaders.

  Guided by insights gathered during intake and discovery, ZRG Aspen Leadership Group team members conduct extensive outreach, screening, and personal engagement, including phone, video, and in-person interviews. ALG search team members serve as informed ambassadors for the organization by asking thoughtful questions and evaluating candidates through the lens of extensive nonprofit leadership experience.

  Candidate sourcing and engagement continue until both client and candidate are confident that they have found the right match. Our extensive network and knowledge of the sector allow for deeper referencing and greatly reduce risk for our clients. If additional rounds of recruitment become necessary, our process is designed to maintain momentum without delay. Throughout the search, our focus remains not only on successful placement but on long-term leadership success and the selected candidate’s lasting contribution to the organization’s mission, vision, culture, and impact. Most searches result in the presentation of fully vetted slates eight weeks after the search launch.
