Based in San Francisco, Alan is a Principal on the Real Estate team at ZRG Partners, where he leads the firm’s investor, debt, and West Coast practices.
Alan joined ZRG following a 25-year principal-side career overseeing more than $10B of real estate investments and transactions. Across global platforms and entrepreneurial firms, he has built and scaled real estate businesses while leading acquisitions, asset management, portfolio management, and capital raising. His experience spans the full investment spectrum—from institutional LP roles to regional operating partners and global asset allocators—giving him a deep understanding of how leadership roles function within real estate organizations.
Alan began his career on Goldman Sachs’ international trading desk before returning to his alma mater’s investment office, where he focused on real estate and private equity as an LP. After earning his MBA, he worked through the GFC with Deutsche Bank’s Global Opportunity Fund and The John Buck Company. In 2010, he joined Swift Real Estate Partners as an early partner and later became Head of Acquisitions, helping grow the firm from approximately $100M to $1.5B in AUM and from a handful of employees to more than 60.
Later, Alan led regional restructuring and the turnaround of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio for Blackstone’s EQ Office, encompassing over 10M sf across Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, and oversaw its disposition prior to COVID.
With experience across acquisitions (opportunistic through core), portfolio and asset management, capital raising, debt structuring, workouts, development, and dispositions, Alan brings a uniquely operational perspective to his clients.
Alan is a member of ULI (UDMUC Platinum Council), earned his CFA charter in 2012, and is a senior member of the Guardsmen, a Bay Area nonprofit supporting youth education.
MBA, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College
BA, International Trade, Brown University
