John Spencer brings over 25 years of search industry experience in his role as Managing Director and member of the Global Life Sciences practice at ZRG. John was Managing Partner at a boutique life sciences executive search firm within LifeSci Partners and previously served as Senior Client Partner in Korn Ferry’s Global Life Sciences Practice. His clientele spans venture capital and private equity firms, small- and mid-cap corporations, as well as large multinationals. He has deep knowledge and broad professional networks throughout this sector, including diagnostics, precision medicine, genomics/proteomics, life sciences tools, biotechnology and medical devices.

Since 2000, John has completed search assignments across a range of executive management functions including CEO, COO, CBO, CFO, President and Board of Directors, in addition to functional leadership positions in Sales, Marketing, Operations, Manufacturing, R&D, Clinical, Medical and Regulatory and Quality Affairs.

Prior to entering executive search, he held commercial positions with Corning Life Sciences (NASDAQ:GLW), the Enterprise Life Sciences Software team at Sciquest.com (NASDAQ:SQST) in addition to work as a Bench Researcher at the U.C. Davis Medical Center, and as a Pharmacokinetic Researcher at Arris Pharmaceuticals. He received his B.S. in Physiology from the University of California at Davis. He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
