John Hetherington is a Managing Director in ZRG’s Executive Search business and a core member of the global Human Resources Officers practice. He brings more than a decade of experience advising organizations on senior HR and functional leadership roles acrossglobal markets.
John built his career at Leathwaite, beginning in the CFO practice before relocating to Hong Kong to lead the firm’s APAC business, and later returning to the UK to help scale its global HR capability.
John partners with CEOs to appoint CHROs and with CHROs to build high performing leadership teams. His work spans the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, supporting both listed and privately owned organizations. He brings deep expertise in global HR leadership and broader experience placing executives across technology, finance, governance, operations, and private equity value creation. Known for his global mindset and sensitivity to cultural context, John frequently supports cross-border executive appointments. He has also helped introduce psychometric assessment tools to strengthen data driven hiring decisions.
John is based in the UK. He holds a BA in Modern European Languages from Durham University and an MSc in Organizational Psychology from Birkbeck College.
