Ian Newbould is a Senior Consultant and Member at ZRG The Registry, a division of ZRG’s Education, Nonprofit, and Social Impact practice. He brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, interim executive placements, academic administration, and international university governance.

Ian’s long association with ZRG The Registry began as a client, when he appointed several interim senior administrators, and later continued through his work as an interim leader, senior consultant, and principal for interim placements.

His career includes presidencies at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada, North Carolina Wesleyan College, and Richmond, the American International University in London. He also served as a faculty member, Dean, and Vice President Academic at the University of Lethbridge, and has taught in Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. His interim leadership work includes serving as interim provost at the University of Mary Washington and St. John Fisher College, and interim president of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He has served on numerous boards, including the International Association of Universities, and was national Chair of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.

Ian earned degrees from the University of Western Ontario, the University of Guelph, and the University of Manchester. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and has published widely in modern British history.
