Eduardo Aguilar is a Managing Director in ZRG’s Financial Services practice, based in Madrid. He advises clients across banking, insurance, infrastructure, and broader financial services on leadership, governance, and complex organizational challenges. Eduardo brings deep experience navigating the intersection of public and private sector interests, supporting clients on board-level matters and strategic transformation.
Eduardo’s career spans senior leadership roles in both government and global banking. He spent nearly 15 years in public administration, including roles within the Spanish Treasury and Ministry of Economy, where he contributed to Spain’s foreign debt strategy, the country’s entry into the Monetary Union, and oversight of insurance regulation. He also played a role in establishing Spain’s energy supervisory body.
He subsequently joined Paribas and BNP Paribas, where he spent 19 years as a senior banker, ultimately leading the investment banking business in Spain. In addition to his corporate career, Eduardo has served on multiple boards in the insurance and asset management sectors and acts as an advisor to organizations across Spain and internationally, including projects in North Africa.
Eduardo holds a degree in economics from the University of Madrid and completed further studies at Harvard and MIT. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.
Outside of work, he enjoys international projects, intellectual debate, and engaging with organizations navigating complex governance and economic challenges. He is also active in professional forums and media, including participation in financial programming in Spain.
