Wai Leong Chan brings two decades of executive search and leadership experience to ZRG. He started out at Singapore Airlines as a company scholar, spending time at ground operations, sales and cargo. He then moved to management consulting doing strategy and operations, based in the US and then back in Asia. Seeking more direct experience, Wai Leong then took a regional VP role at an American computer company expanding throughout Asia and figuring out market entry and supply chain issues. Next was a country MD role at SAP, a European software giant followed by a regional business development role. He then moved to executive search, first at Spencer Stuart and then a boutique he co-founded which was acquired by Eric Salmon & Partners. He is now an MD at ZRG, after nine years at Eric Salmon.​

Wai Leong served as a Board Member and Chair of the Nominations Committee for AWWA, a social service entity empowering the disadvantaged to maximize their potential to lead dignified and independent lives. He was previously a Board Director for Interplex Holdings, Ltd., one of the world’s largest precision engineering companies with global sales across 13 countries and over 13,500 employees. Interplex was previously listed on the Singapore Exchange but delisted after its acquisition by a private equity firm.​

Wai Leong has extensive expertise working with companies and clients from different continents to grow or address business issues. He has placed C-suite and boardroom leaders throughout the Asia-Pacific region in the technology and industrial fields, working for both Western and Asian clients. He has helped to identify and recruit both business leaders as well as functional heads. He has worked on assignments involving market expansion, production, procurement, logistics and various supply chain issues. He has worked for clients involved with B2B equipment and B2C products, in sectors such as Industrial, Telecom, Networking, Semicon, Consumer, Healthcare and others.​​

Wai Leong holds an MBA, M.Eng., and BS(EE) from Cornell University, where he has served on the University Council for multiple terms. He has also been through an executive program at Insead with time spent in the US, Europe and Asia.​
