Bill Trau is a Managing Director in ZRG’s Executive Search practice, where he focuses on leadership placements across the Technology and Industrial sectors. With more than 25 years in executive search, Bill has completed over 400 C-suite and VP-level placements for companies navigating growth, transformation, and market disruption.
Before joining ZRG, Bill was a founding Senior Partner at Kingsley Gate. Earlier, he served as Partner and head of the North American Semiconductor practice at Heidrick & Struggles. Throughout his career, Bill has built a reputation for helping clients secure leaders who can translate strategy into measurable results.
Bill specializes in executive search across Technology, Media, Telecommunications, and advanced manufacturing. Known for a hands-on and client-centric approach, he brings deep market knowledge and works closely with both clients and candidates from search launch through successful transition. Earlier in his career, Bill helped author a widely adopted 40-day search methodology and contributed to firmwide initiatives designed to strengthen search quality and client experience.
Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from The Ohio State University. He is based in ZRG’s Cleveland and Silicon Valley offices.
