Texas State University
Head Women’s Gymnastics Coach
San Marcos, TX
Background:
Texas State University will launch the first NCAA Division I women's gymnastics program in the state of Texas, with competition tentatively scheduled to begin in spring 2028. The move marks another transformational milestone for TXST Athletics.
Located in San Marcos, Texas, TXST has shattered its all-time enrollment record with 44,596 students for fall 2025 — a 9.6% increase over the prior year. The university's 507-acre campus anchors a vibrant college community just 30 miles south of Austin, offering students easy access to one of the nation's fastest-growing metros.
Texas is home to more than 100 current NCAA gymnasts and trains 25% of the nation's elite talent, yet the state had never had a Division I program — until now. TXST's inaugural program will give student-athletes the opportunity to pursue conference and national championships while staying in their home state, and will serve an in-state pipeline of 250-plus gymnastics clubs and an estimated 40,000 children and teens in the sport. Olympic gold medalists and Gymnastics Hall of Famers Jordyn Wieber and Carly Patterson will serve on the steering committee for the program.
TXST joins Boise State, Oregon State, Utah State, and Southern Utah as Pac-12 institutions sponsoring NCAA women's gymnastics. The inaugural Head Coach will build this program from the ground up — shaping its culture, assembling its staff, and establishing Texas State as a program of national consequence.
