Position Summary:
The Director of Fan Experience & Security will lead the strategy and execution of all fan experience and security operations across 100+ annual events at Rogers Place and ICE District, with a focus on delivering a safe, seamless, and best-in-class guest experience. Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager, Rogers Place, this role oversees all day-to-day functions of the Fan Experience and Security team with a focus on driving operational excellence and consistency across all events, brands, and touchpoints.
This role owns the end-to-end approach to fan experience and venue security, with each event guided by clear strategy and executed with consistency and discipline. The successful candidate will be a proven leader who will shape and elevate the guest journey by fostering a high-performing, service-driven culture grounded in OEG’s values of being Genuine, Great, Entrepreneurial, Inclusive, Passionate, and Teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
- Inspire and develop team members to strengthen strategic thinking, align actions with OEG’s vision and values, and uphold the organization’s behavioural standards.
- Oversee the Fan Experience and Security team through all phases of the employee journey from recruitment through onboarding, training, performance management, retention, and recognition.
- Lead day-to-day performance management of direct reports, including regular check-ins on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
Fan Experience & Security Strategy
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Fan Experience and Security team to drive alignment with the OEG CX Signature Program, policies, and procedures.
- Leverage professional and life experience to develop new approaches and establish best practices.
Operations & Event Execution
- Lead the performance of the Fan Experience and Security team before, during, and after events (Oilers, Oil Kings, Live Events, and ICE District).
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities during events, including serving as Manager on Duty and Incident Commander.
- Support planning and management of security systems throughout Rogers Place and ICE District.
Security, Compliance & External Relations
- Act as the liaison for NHL Security and any security needs, from event planning to all our different brands’ operations inside Rogers Place or in the ICE District.
- Develop and maintain relationships with COE regulatory agencies (EFRS, EPS, EMS), and lead the development of communication protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure full alignment.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively, build strong employee relationships, and support key stakeholders to achieve OEG goals and objectives.
- Support fellow business units through a proactive approach to meet their operational needs.
- Work directly with internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of the fan experience and service recovery to maintain satisfaction to all ticketed customers.
Financial Management & Strategic Initiatives
- Optimize expenditures through operating budgets monitoring including daily follow-up, annual forecast and analysis of labour costs.
- Identify and promote new projects annually to support both quantitative and qualitative goals.
Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years managing people with diverse roles and responsibilities, in sports and entertainment an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proven knowledge in strategic planning, and operations of large groups of employees.
- Effective supervisory and management experience, focused on performance development, leadership, and retention.
- Experience in management of multi-million-dollar annual operating budgets.
- Available to work business hours and event-based schedule which includes evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
- Current Security Services and Investigator's Act (SSIA) License.
- Ability to work with a dynamic group of individuals in many different departments and prioritize tasks.
- Customer-centric approach with a dedication to leading and delivering internal and external positive experiences and collaborations.
- Strong organizational skills, resourceful and proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
